11th ANNUAL BROADWATER FAMILY PICNIC

Sunday, October 17th was a perfect day for a picnic as 221 folks who attended this year’s event can attest to.  This year’s event boasted our largest turnout ever and was filled with good food (provided by Publix, Johnsonville, and our residents), music and fun for the kids (provided by Tasco), and great door prizes (provided by 38 of our generous local merchants). 

Many new residents attended this year and got to know their neighbors and see firsthand why we are all fortunate to live in Broadwater. 

Thanks to Evelyn Hill and her great cast of volunteers, everything went very smoothly.  Our chefs (Ray Ockuly, Dana Farden, Steve Cease, and Roger Sheahen) had hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats flowing from the grill and the appetizers, side dishes, and desserts were plentiful.  Tasco kept the music and games going while providing inflatables for the kids to enjoy. 

Congratulations to our Hula Hoop champions Corinn McElerney (Kids) and Heidi Haught (Adults). 

Thirty-eight of our local merchants provided everyone with a door prize along with 11 grand prizes donated by the Tradewinds, the Market Place, the Flamingo, Diamonds Direct, Gold’s Gym, Anytime Pizza, and Latitude 27.  Please support these and 32 other merchants (see complete list) who generously donated prizes and gift certificates. 

This year we also had a table set up to sign up folks to help us fulfill our volunteer hours for the proposed grant application to provide entry signs to Broadwater.  Mike Milvain was able to provide a replica of what the signs will look like and Mike and Valerie Lauren were available to answer questions.  We also had a census table for residents to update their information for the new database as well as register their pets.
